Four breeds of dogs with blue tongues

Although some have simply spotted tongues, the shar-pei should have a blue-black tongue, usually solid.

Shar-Pei

This breed may be more susceptible to a wide range of medical problems.

The tongue of a chow chow should always be a dark shade of blue-black, the more intense the better. The chow chow kennel standard states that a spotted tongue disqualifies a dog.

Chow Chow

The chow chow and shar-pei are probably distantly related because the blue-black tongue color is a genetic feature.

Chow Chow

Bright blue tongues, either solid or speckled, were an inherited trait in certain Eurasiers. In order to be a dedicated and loving family pet, the Eurasier was specifically developed.

Eurasier

While the breed is active outside, it is quiet and laid-back indoors. They are devoted to their families yet can be distant with strangers.

Eurasier

It is preferable if the tongue has black patterns, either as spots or as a solid color.
